How to comply with the new Google and Yahoo email delivery rules by February 1, 2024

· 2 min read

Starting from February 1, 2024, Google and Yahoo will introduce new rules for those who send emails in bulk to @gmail and @yahoo contacts.

What will change?

The new rules are aimed at reducing the risks of spam and data fraud and will require senders to:

  • authenticate their emails using SPF, DKIM, and, for those sending massive emails, DMARC (even if set to "none")

  • align the sender's domain with the DKIM or SPF signature domain

  • simplify the unsubscribe process (by including the unsubscribe link in your email template)

  • maintain a spam rate below 0.1%.

What happens if you don't comply with the new rules? You won't be able to send your emails and communicate with customers who have @gmail and @yahoo addresses, easily ending up in spam folders.

How to comply? First, check that the sender's domain and the domain of the DKIM signature refer to the same main domain. You can check the DKIM signatures set up in your Send account in the Create Email Campaign section.

If your account doesn't yet have DKIM signatures related to the sender's domain, you can activate Brand Shield, the ideal solution that allows you to align your domains with the assistance of our experts and the guarantee of meeting the standards required by Google and Yahoo.

To request Brand Shield, please contact your designated sales representative.
