SMS groups
In the SMS groups section, you can configure all the settings for a group.
An sms group is like a container that gathers all SMS deliveries that are homogeneous with each other. For example, in the "Championship News" group, there will be all the weekly SMS messages about football championship news.
The operations you can perform in this section are:
- Configure a new group
- View an existing group
- Edit an existing group
How to configure a new SMS group
From the Configure > groups > SMS groups section, click on the Configure a new SMS group button. The dedicated step-by-step wizard will open.
First, enter a name for the group. This is a label used to identify it. Enter the sender information. It can be a text string of up to 11 characters.
In Italy, the Alias, which is the SMS sender, must be registered with AGCOM to be used. During the setup phase, all the necessary information for registration will be provided; only when the Contactlab Staff has confirmed the actual registration will it be possible to use the sender. Delivery of SMS sent with an unauthorized Alias cannot be guaranteed.
Next, the group must be associated with a database, where the recipient users will be stored. The database can only be associated if it contains an "sms field" (i.e., the phone number entered as a key field).
It is possible to create a group and associate a database later if desired.
Until a database is associated, it will not be possible to use the group to set up deliveries.
In options, the default filter settings for this group's deliveries are defined. By choosing Allow choice > Yes, the filter can be changed for each individual delivery.
In Text of the message, you can set a default subject (this is a label not visible to recipients) and a text. These can be modified for each delivery. It is possible to leave these parameters empty and fill them in directly during the creation of the delivery.
You can also insert User data from the linked user database via a dedicated drop-down menu (the syntax is the same as for emails).
In the last step, summary, confirm the creation of the SMS group and click finish.
View an existing group
To view the configuration of an SMS group, from the Configure > groups > SMS groups section, simply click on the group's name. In this section, you can view the details, the SMS group configuration, and the latest deliveries made.
Edit an existing group
Once the group is created, you can always edit its settings. Simply choose the desired group from the list in Configure > groups > SMS groups and then click on the corresponding edit button. The same screens used to create the group will be displayed again, and all the data entered can be changed.
